Did you all know...
that I was working as a Human Resource (HR) assistant for FOUR months in an Oil & Gas company located in Bangsar? True. I was a coolie back then while resting from the world of UTP Yaw~ I've wasted 8 months doing nothing before the position was offered to me. That time I only eat, sleep, watching TV, playing Pet Society, Restaurant City, Country Story, karaoke, movie, hanging out, and accompanying a friend to a MLM gathering.. That's ALL! It's not that I didn't care to look for jobs. I did apply for data entry clerk positions, administrative assistant, marketing, bla bla bla that I think most suited to my interests in Jobstreet. But I was too stupid looking for those companies that sound familiar to my eyes and ears. I never knew about blind ads until I get hands on experience working on it.
I still remember, I only went for two interviews and I passed the last one. The first interview was with DHL company. The interview was conducted at an office inside City Square JB by a recruitment agency. I went there with my sister, Kabin. She was supposed to be interviewed for a post in City Bank. But, she joined me and DHL and we were interviewed by a tall Indian guy. Separately of course. I was asked about the reason I'm 'resting' from studies. Since I am not the kind of person who can lie without feeling guilty, I told him the truth. Then I was advised by him not to be too honest and frankly speaking when it comes to interview. Haha! (Padan muka) Seriously, that was my first job search interview and I was so nervous! I wasn't interviewed for internship, FYI since the 'company' arranged for my placement. So I FAILED FOR THE INTERVIEW.
Two weeks later, I got an email from another recruitment agency. Should I name it? Ehm, no need lah. Ask me if you wanna know. It was a blind ads. Surprisingly, the job that they wanna offer me is in KL and I will be doing HR tasks! I like this (macam like kat Buzz or Facebook) and I'm gonna give it a try! It was a short notice interview. Like today you receive the email and tomorrow is the interview day. I packed my bag with a Red collared blouse and black pants for the interview. Only that.. not knowing that I will get the job immediately! So I bought a ticket from Terminal Taman Tun Aminah at 12:30am and arrived at Pudu around 5 am. The interview was set at 11am. Crazy! I didn't get enough rest for the interview. I went to Wisma Maran by a cab, the taxi driver thought that I wanted to go to Wisma MARA. That made me late for the interview, and had to pay extra some more. Gosh~
The office of the recruiter was just as small as a grocery shop. The staffs are Indian ladies mostly. Ms D interviewed me briefly, like tak sampai 10 minit pun. Then she called the O&G company saying that I will be coming for the interview immediately. She gave me a recommendation letter, a Job Application Form and the map of the company (which I don't want to mention here). I quickly walked to Masjid Jamek LRT and got down at Bangsar LRT. Actually, I'm quite familiar with the place because I often went lepak with Lan there. I arrived at the office and a lady at the receptionist greeted me. She called Ms C to inform about my arrival and later I was asked to go to Level 2. At Level 2, a curly haired lady introduced herself as Ms C. I thought she's a Malay because she speaks Malay fluently. But, she's not. She brought me to a room and another lady has already waited for me. She's Mrs L. They were so effing serious during the interview. I paused a lot because I was nervous. And making them understand about my situation (defer from studies) consumed a lot of time. Hihi.
30 minutes later, I walked out from the office happily like terlepas satu azab besar, like baru lepas jawab final exam. My expectation wasn't high as I myself know my potential and I sucked during the interview. Since I did not bring a lot of clothes, I decided to go back to JB the next day. But then, Truuut Truuut (2x). A private number called me. I picked up the call and Ms D from the recruitment agency gave me a shocking news. I've got the job!!! She asked me to open an EPF account and to come to the O&G company office on Monday, 10th August 2009. I can't describe my feelings that time. Contented? Sad for having to work far from JB? Okay, I only have one set of office wear, so I went to Ain's house at Shah Alam and borrowed her clothes for one week use. Thanks Ain! (This post will be continued tomorrow with the experience that I would love to share with all my readers)
